Samsung and HTC to launch 4G (WiMAX) smartphones for Clearwire this year

In announcing its financial results for Q1 of 2010, as a “record breaking growth of subscribers,” said Clearwire is also planning to launch two smartphones 4G in late 2010.

The U.S. WiMAX provider did not disclose many details about the next smart phones, but said that both will have 3G and WiFi, in addition to 4G. Moreover, an Android phone and will run for Samsung, while the other will be manufactured by HTC.

The HTC device could be the EVO 4G, but Engadget says that in reality is a different phone that could run Windows 7 Phone.

Clearwire, which is 51% owned by Sprint, also announced plans to expand coverage 4G mobile broadband in new U.S. markets this year, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Boston, Denver, Minneapolis, Miami, Orlando, Tampa and Pittsburgh.
