Sprint admits it overstated initial HTC EVO 4G sales

Available since last Friday (June 04), the HTC EVO 4G is by far the best smartphone Sprint has had, so it is not surprising that many customers want.

Initially, Sprint announced that "the total number of 4G EVO HTC devices sold on the day of release was three times the number of pre Samsung Instinct and Palm devices sold during its first three days on the market combined."

However, estimates of the company were wrong. A press release has been updated on the website of Sprint, to correct the error. As a result, the launch of HTC 4G EVO sale days were actually "six times higher than the day of the launch of Samsung Instinct and nearly double the sales on Palm Pre-launch." Sure, it still sold over Sprint EVO launch day, although the carrier is shy to provide exact sales figures – it is estimated that around 200,000 units were sold during the weekends.

As the desire and HTC HTC Verizon Awesome Droid, the EVO 4G is quite difficult to find at the moment (it is sold online) – which means HTC and Sprint did not expect that demand for the handset to be as high.

The EVO 4G is currently offered by Sprint for only $ 199.99 on contract – a price that has become a standard for high-end smartphones in the U.S. (the Apple iPhone 16 GB 4 AT & T will sell for $ 199.99, too).
