One of our T-Mobile connects just blessed us with some HTC HD2 unboxing shots. With a looming release date, it should help cut down on some of your healthcare costs. You know, for those of you that have been hyperventilating since the official announcement. Hit the jump for the shots!

T-Mobile has recently started sending out invitations to a press event taking place on March 16th in New York City. Apparently, the event is linked to the launch of HTC HD2, taking place on March 24th, according to a bunch of leaks from sources close to the story.
Engadget confirms the information and we’ll be seeing the classic launch party probably, complete with a bunch of celebrities, cocktails maybe, perhaps even a band or two? The tech side of the show will include the HTC HD2 being showcased with all its features, from the beloved 4.3 inch multitouch display, to the 5 megapixel camera or Windows Mobile 6.5.
HD2 has started to lose its appeal since we’ve learned that it won’t support Windows Phone 7, sadly…

The Motorola CLIQ XT is a keyboardless version of the original CLIQ with some improvements such as Flash Lite. I won’t give you the phone’s complete run down but if you want to be “sold” then I suggest you listen to a quick pitch. But what I WILL show you is two pictures from two different sources who have their hands on some leaked pics.
The first is from TMOtoday – see more pictures from them here:

And the folks at DroidSector also got some lucky XT loveliness-here for more:

Not too long before you’ll be enjoying the CLIQ XT yourself instead of having to rely on others – sit tight!
So you’re a T-Mobile employee and you’re standing in an elevator with a customer for 60 seconds. You desperately want to sell them the Motorola CLIQ XT but aren’t exactly sure how to make the sale in that limited amount of time. No problem – that’s what training (and pamphlets) are for:

The above is from a pamphlet provided to employees and leaked to Engadget. For the folks who can’t read fine print, allow me to help:
Sell It in 60 Seconds
- The MOTOROLA CLIQ XT with MOTOBLUR is the thinnest Android phone at T-Mobile. The CLIQ XT gives you access to thousands of apps from Android Market, plus it has MOTOBLUR – a service that automatically syncs messages, emails, posts and pictures from your favorite accounts to one place – not into separate apps.
- MOTOBLUR also syncs, consolidates, and updates your work and play contacts – automatically in real time. So if your friend chanes a phone number on Facebook, the change will also be reflected in your contacts book. You can view a contact’s latest profile picture and status update at a glance, from the Happenings widget, your contacts book, or even when you get an incoming call.
- Of course, you can share your world as well – snap pics with the 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and post them to all your favorite sites, or update your status across Facebook, MySpace and Twitter with just one click
- Plus, CLIQ XT’s enhanced Google HTML browser and Adobe Flash Lite let you see more of the Web, while pinch-and-zoom and the front-touch navigation tool give you more control of it.
So… are you sold? Not yet? No problem… allow me another minute of your time to reveal a wee-bit more of the pamphlet:

How ’bout now?
By the way I definitely agree with Mary Morgan at the moment.
That’s right; T-Mobile has invited us to join them for a very special event on March 16 to experience the HTC HD2. According to the tag line, the HTC HD2 is “a larger than life entertainment powerhouse.” The release date is still yet to be revealed but we’re hearing the drop date is around the 24th time frame.

Highlights of the HD2 include a massive 4.3-inch LCD outputting a sweet 800 x 480 WVGA on a capacitive panel, 5MP shooter, TouchFLO 3D, and a super fast processor. For the time being, check out the HD2’s full review and hands-on video – SlashGear.

Last night was easily the best night of the year for the celebrity-crazed paparazzi. It also turned out to be a pretty darn good night for the smartphone paparazzi as well for two upcoming T-Mobile handsets were given the star treatment on their very own red carpet. First up was the HTC HD2, the infinitely lovable Windows Phone with a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and gargantuan 4.3″ WVGA display, which looked as stylish as ever in Sense UI by HTC. Never one to miss an opportunity to show support for those in need, the HD2 took a moment to show off its Blockbuster app which will allow proud owners to download movies on demand. Immediately following the HD2 was the Nokia Nuron. Although the general consensus was that it was dressed more for the Kids Choice Awards than the Academy Awards, the Nuron made a bit of a stir when it shrieked at the top of its lungs how it had seen the light, converted to Buddhism and was now on a mission to convince everyone that less is more and that all other smartphones cannot possibly be as happy as it is living with S60, an OS that is on its way out. When will us ordinary folk get a chance to meet these stars? The Nuron is still a mystery, but we’re still very confident on a March 24th debut for the HD2.
Believe it or not, those other search engines are still out there. In fact, they even manage to show up in the least likely of places. But, it must be hard for these other engines when they keep getting forced into the shadow of another, far more colorful mechanism. About a year ago, T-Mobile signed their mobile browsing souls away to Yahoo!, but it looks like that agreement has ended, and the fourth largest carrier in the States has had a change of heart.

Instead, T-Mobile USA has gone ahead and signed up with the Mountain View-based company, also known as Google. In addition, they’re also partnering up with Medio Systems, to better index results of premium content like wallpapers and ringtones. The switch has apparently taken hold already, as Google is available now in their Web2Go, along with their mobile web homepage.
But all is not lost for the purple Y in the land of magenta. Yahoo! is still making their services useful for the carrier by providing access to Yahoo! services like News, Finance, Messenger, Mail, and Flickr. So apparently the split was mutual, at the least. We’re not really surprised by this, considering the push that T-Mobile has been making on the Android side of things. Sprint’s pushing Android as well (not as hard, but they’re trying), and they’ve got a deal going with Google as well. The main contender to that would be Verizon Wireless, which is still rocking Microsoft’s Bing as their primary search provider, but that’s not a surprise either. And AT&T? Well, they’ve still got the Yahoo! love.

TmoNews is reporting that come March 14th, T-Mobile will be launching its much-awaited HSPA+ service in a few more markets. These are rumored to include Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, and presumably Philadelphia while supporting the launch of a new 3G data device as well — the webConnect Rocket. Additionally, it looks like T-Mobile has finally started to overhaul their hideous cellular coverage maps by adding more zoom layers, population guides, and additional color coding for different network technologies (like the new HSPA+ service). Anyone excited to get their mobile 21Mbps on?

T-Mobile is definitely out to please their customers. They (and HTC) were the first to hook us all up with Android, they pushed their service plans further and harder causing the industry to follow-suit, but for some reason their owner still wants to sell them? I’m hoping T-Mobile stays in business and doesn’t get folded into a competitor and it’s for reasons like this – they ranked #1 on the JD Power’s Customer Satisfaction Survey for a 2nd straight time.
T-Mobile ranks highest in customer satisfaction among major wireless carrier-owned retail stores for a second consecutive time with a score of 723, performing particularly well with regard to quality of sales staff and price and promotions. Verizon Wireless (722) closely follows T-Mobile in the rankings.
The survey is based on four main factors with their weight (in parenthesis):
- sales staff (49%)
- price and promotion (27%)
- store facility
- display (10%)
I thought it was interesting that smartphone owners spend longer in-store than typical phone buyers – 4 minutes longer to be exact. Pretty equal and I think there are 2 reasons that counteract eachother. I’m guessing most people purchasing a smartphone already know what phone they want when they walk in the store… obviously they’ve been reading Phandroid and reading our reviews so they’re well informed. On the other hand, activations, data plan options and teaching customers the basics of using their phone probably lengthens their stay.
It looks like T-Mobile and Verizon are the winners of this report, but we’re eager to hear what your thoughts are – obviously understanding it will vary by location, loyalty and other factors. Which I guess is why the aggregate JD Power’s reprot is so telling.
J.D. Power and Associates has given T-Mobile the highest ranking in wireless retail customer satisfaction among the major U.S. carriers. The “2010 Wireless Retail Sales Satisfaction Study – Volume 1” reports that T-Mobile edged out Verizon Wireless, Sprint, and AT&T in the retail study with an overall score of 723; Verizon had an overall score of 722. The categories considered were: overall retail sales performance, retailer’s facility, merchandise display, sales staff, and cost. The study did not take into account how satisfied people were with the quality of their wireless network or phone selection, just the retail experience itself. Congrats to T-Mo on their second consecutive victory. We’ve got the official press release all queued up for you.

We’ve gotten leak after leak suggesting that March 10th would be the day of reckoning for the CLIQ XT and now that we’re officially 1-week away from that date we get another unofficial confirmation that the 10th it is:

One more week for the non-keyboarded CLIQ which makes me wonder: did they choose the name “CLIQ” because it sounds like “Click” for the QWERTY? And if so maybe they should have named it UN-CLIQ, CLIQ NA, or CLIQ MT.
