Sunday 1 August 2010 @ 7:12 pm

Tag Microsoft, the mobile application that uses bar code technology from Microsoft itself (called High Capacity Color Barcode or HCCB) is now out of beta, available for free for Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, Symbian, Windows Mobile Palm OS. The application is available for J2ME phones, although this is still in beta.

Microsoft Tag helps users to instantly link to a website for mobile or video, add someone to your address book, and even create your own labels with the label manager.

Microsoft says that since the beta label is launched (18 month), "more than a billion labels were printed by individuals and companies around the world" – so the technology s 'is becoming very popular (especially due to the fact that tags can be read faster than bar codes and can be made in sizes smaller).

LG wants to patent multiple flexible display gadget form factors

Monday 26 July 2010 @ 7:12 pm

Flexible displays for mobile devices, is one of the great things is, that transformed the way we use our phones. Whenever you become good enough and cheap enough for everyday use in our daily lives.

A lot of R & D money is being spent on flexible screens every day, many genuine inventions and intellectual property generated around it, and a lot of patents to protect the investments being offered.

But with the patent system, and that is, patents and stupid, stupid things given to patents obvious troll who asks, and then used to extort companies legit, it's always thinking a little ahead. Obviously this stuff, and shows how flexible can be used, when available.

And while others are busy imagining, drawing and presents the concepts of how our gadgets could be flexible in the future, why not patent the use case you can imagine, at this moment?

Well, it seems that LG just went and did exactly that with its "flexible and mobile terminal screen control method for mobile terminal" patent application.

Here some mobile and flexiblerminal ideas, described in a patent application:

LG wants to patent multiple flexible display gadget form factors

Well, it's only a patent application. LG is a genuine participation in flexible display R & D, with some concrete results to prove it. And others are filing patents for their gadgets too flexible. So this could be a defensive move by LG, if a patent troll comes at a later date. Or to negotiate patent license agreements for the cross terms of Nokia, Samsung, Motorola and Apple are in their patent portfolios.

However, a little scary. If these patents are granted, which means that LG or others, are entitled to claim all new, but fairly obvious factors, and methods of operation of the device, described in their patent applications?

The Samsung Rugby II should be available to AT & T in June 2006, the same day more than the LG Vu will be released. The Rugby II will cost $ 129.99 with a 2-year contract agreement and after a $ 50 mail in rebate.

In other news, AT & T, the second largest airline in the U.S. could soon launch the HTC Aria, which, according Phonedog is an AndrOID 2.1 smartphone user mode sense. Now, we heard that both the desire and the legend could affect HTC HTC AT & T, so that Aria is probably one of these two devices.

Reportedly, AT & T HTC Aria will be announced on 07 June – but this is quite hard to believe, since this is also the date when Apple presented their new iPhone (which, of course, will be available AT & T first – unless a major surprise Apple is planning some sort).
