AT&T has just announced that it’s going to start selling the Brew OS-based HTC Freestyle handset from February 13th. The phone will be priced at $99.99 with a 2 year contract and after a $50 mail in rebate. It will be available both online and in AT&T and partner retail stores.
HTC Freestyle uses the HTC Sense experience and this handset was announced at the 2011 AT&T Developer Summit. Here’s the phone’s specs list:
Display: 3.2 inch full touchscreen
Camera: 3.2MP
Connectivity: UMTS/HSDPA, EDGE, Stereo Bluetooth
Memory: microSD card slot (up to 32GB)
Freestyle will also use the AT&T Navigator, Music and Radio services, a well as the famous customizable widgets and FriendStream, brought by the HTC Sense UI.
Although the HTC Thunderbolt dummies have arrived in Verizon stores, it appears the real device will be delayed indefinitely, according to recent leaked info. The handset was supposed to debut on February 14, just in time for Valentine’s Day sales.
Speculations claim that the delay is due to the WiFi hotspot not working (at all or properly) on the LTE handset. It would be real sad to miss this handset’s scheduled launch date and disappoint the public, but everyone’s willing to wait for this hot dual core smartphone. If you’re interested in other Verizon products, know that their 4G mobile hotspot has also been delayed, so it won’t make the scheduled February 17 launch date.
After the HTC-made Nexus One and the Samsung Nexus S, it might be Motorola’s turn to give the Google Phone a try. The rumor comes from Advertiser Talk and it fits with Google’s tendency to keep things varied and not go with the same partner every time it creates a product.
This “no favourites” policy also makes us think of LG and Sony Ericsson as potential candidates to developing the next Nexus model. The launch could be closer than we think, as Android 2.4 Ice Cream Sandwich is getting ready for release, without a specific date mentioned. Considering the looks of the Sony Ericsson Arc, we’d love SE to develop the new Nexus model, but a Moto smartphone without Motoblur sure sounds good.
HTC has just announced that HTC Gratia will be available for UK buyers starting next month. This is an entry level Froyo smartphone with a 3.2 inch HVGA touchscreen, 5MP camera and Pearl White rubber back cover. In case this looks familiar to you, know that it’s the UK version of the HTC Aria.
Under the hood you’ll find a 600MHz Qualcomm CPU, while the device’s specs list also includes 3G and WiFi b/g. Pricing is yet unknown and we learn that this device will be accompanied by the HTC 7 Pro, a Windows Phone 7 smartphone that packs a QWERTY keyboard and will be launched in the UK in the same time frame.
HTC 7 Pro comes with a 1GHz CPU, Dolby Mobile technology and a tilting 3.6 inch touchscreen display.
Pocketnow recently uncovered quite a bit of HTC leak material and we’re talking about the following handsets. The first, pictured below is a Brew MP unit, that will probably be unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2011 and it’s followed after the break by more goodies.
The Brew MP phone looks very much like the HTC Smart, so it could be a follow-up (HTC Smart 2?) for this handset. Next up we have a Verizon unit below, without buttons and in two versions: one with the HTC branding and the other bearing the Big Red’s logo. Should we expect LTE 4G from these babies, too? MWC 2011 will probably provide the answer.
The last of the leaks is an Android unit, very much like the Nexus One, but sporting a front-facing camera. Also, there’s a new name being mentioned, HTC Sensation, in a trademark filed in Germany, making us wonder if this is a rebranding of an US phone or more.
