HTC at Mobile World Congress 2011: Summary (Video)

Monday 7 February 2011 @ 11:13 am

HTC rocked the world during MWC 2011, in spite of their small incidents with the projector and speakers and the delay of the conference. Everything went smooth afterwards and 6 new appealing products were unveiled. We’re talking about the HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Wildfire S smartphones, plus the two Facebook Phones HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa and of course, the HTC Flyer tablet.

The Incredible S is the most powerful of the lineup and it finally brings the Incredible series to Europe, as the previous model wasn’t present on the other side of the Ocean. Desire S is the follow-up to the famous Nexus One twin, while the Wildfire S will most likely bring Android 2.3 to the masses. All of these models come with the new interface of HTC Sense.

HTC ChaCha and Salsa were all about their Facebook button and dedicated social networking feature, that was shown with the contribution of Mark Zuckerberg, who also hit the stage at some point. As far as HTC Flyer is concerned, this is a nifty first attempt at a tablet, but till it replaces Android 2.4 + Sense combo with Honeycomb, we’ll hold back from judgment.

Presentations were very good and Apple should feel jealous right now!

The 7 Pro is among the few WP7 devices with a QWERTY keyboard, that accompanies a 3.6 inch 480 x 800 pixel touch display. HTC 7 Pro supports Dolby Mobile technology and comes with 448MB RAM, 512MB ROM and 8/16GB of storage. It does HSDPA, WiFi, Bluetooth and incorporates a 5MP camera and 1GHz CPU.

Vodafone Bringing MWC 2011 Handsets and Tablets to Europe Soon! Android Power!

Friday 4 February 2011 @ 11:13 am

If you’ve loved some of the gadgets we’ve shown you in our hands on tour in Barcelona, well Mobilissimo.ro has good news for you! It appears Vodafone plans to bring these innovations to their portofolio in the coming weeks and we’re talking 3D handsets, 3D tablets and dual core units here. Their list of upcoming products includes the Samsung Nexus S, Samsung Tab 10 and Samsung Galaxy S II, to name just a few.

LG Optimus 2X, the 3D phone LG Optimus 3D and Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc are also included, plus the HTC Desire S. Dual core and Android 2.3 are key words for the new products, as you’ll learn for yourselves. Samsung Nexus S (above) is pretty familiar for us, since we’ve been testing it recently and we found it to be a pretty hot item.

It comes with a 4 inch touchscreen, a 5MP camera, 16GB of internal memory, a 1GHz CPU and Android 2.3. Next on the list is the slate pictured below, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, one that features a dual core Tegra 2 1GHz CPU, an 8 megapixel camera at the back and a 2MP one upfront. Android 3.0 Honeycomb is the software of choice on this unit.

Samsung Galaxy S II (pictured below) was one of our favorite new smartphones in Barcelona, thanks to its 4.3 inch touchscreen display, a Super AMOLED Plus screen that’s brilliant. Also, the device uses a dual core 1GHz processor and runs Android 2.3.

LG Optimus 2X also makes the cut, as the very first dual core handset in Europe, now ready for a Vodafone launch. It comes with a Tegra 2 1GHz CPU, an 8 megapixel camera with full HD capture support and HDMI mirroring.

3D technology is brought forward by the LG Optimus 3D handset, packing a 3D display and dual 3D cameras with 5 megapixel resolutions. We’ve handled this nifty gadget and aside from some minor eye strains, we liked its nifty graphics, cool gallery and 3D UI, plus the Gulliver gaming title on it, as shown below.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc will also be among the new arrivals, with its curved design and extremely thin waistline (8.9mm). It runs Android 2.3 and features a Reality Display, based on Sony Mobile Bravia engine technology. Its camera is also pure quality: 8 megapixel sensor, Exmor R technology involved.

HTC Desire S was another one of our favorites in Barcelona and the follow-up to the Nexus One twin sports an elegant design, a Snapdragon CPU (1GHz) and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. This model could also be spotted in our hands on sessions at MWC. Have you found your favorite on this list, yet?

HTC Wildfire S is a very compact device, measuring 10.13cm in length and 5.94cm in width and also including a 3.2 inch HVGA screen. This affordable phone will most likely bring Android 2.3 to the people who want to spend less cash on a smartphone, but still get access to the goodies. Here’s the specs list for the device:

HTC Revolver, the Dual Core Smartphone That Runs Android 3.0 Honeycomb?

Wednesday 2 February 2011 @ 11:13 am

A couple of hours before HTC’s big event came a leak of a smartphone that surpasses in specs everything that HTC showcased today. Dubbed as HTC Revolver and seemingly headed to AT&T, this device is considered the new flagship smartphone of the Taiwanese company, if rumors are to be believed.

Q3 is when we’ll be seeing this product on AT&T, according to leaked info. What’s really strange is that the dual core smartphone is listed as running Android Honeycomb, although this platform is reserved for tablets. Leaked specs also include 3G+ support, a 4.3 inch LCD touch display, 16GB of internal memory and 1GB of RAM.

This handset is also a premiere, being the first phone with a 3MP front camera, while at the back we find an 8MP sensor. Under the hood there’s a 1.2GHz dual core processor of unknown origin. Well, of course this could be a fake, but if it is, the ones who created it are masters.
