Nokia 5800 XpressMusic against iPhone 3G – this article gives ample evidence that Nokia 5800 is better than iPhone.
The appearance of the first iPhone model was a revolutionary event in the mobile devices world. The aggressive advertising policy has turned this smartphone into a super multimedia toy. In response, the other mobile phone manufacturers have decided to give an answer to Apple. As a result, Nokia released a new model, named Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. This device was immediately dubbed "the iPhone killer", but, as we see, iPhones are sold so far. Let’s compare these two smartphones and find out which one is better.
Let’s start with the display. Nokia 5800 has a screen size of just 0.3 inches less than iPhone: 3,2" vs 3.5”. But the screen resolution of Nokia is much better – 640×480 pixels, whereas the iPhone has only 480×320. The iPhone can be managed only with your fingers. Nokia 5800 is still controllable with a stylus and mediator, besides fingers. The advantage of the iPhone in terms of management is only the multitouch function, with other words, it can be managed with several fingers at once. However, Nokia 5800 has a much more useful function, it is able to recognize handwritten text. The iPhone lacks even the most ordinary functions, which we all have long ago been accustomed to. For example, iPhone does not send MMS messages, does not have the "copy / paste” feature, does not support voice commands and no voice recorder.
Let’s talk about the built-in cameras. Nokia 5800 is equipped with a camera with a resolution matrix of 3,2 MP, Carl Zeiss lenses, LED flash and triple zoom. The iPhone camera has long ago been obsolete: 2MP resolution, but without installing third-party applications, recording video is not possible. Nokia 5800 can record video at resolutions up to 640×480 px. On the front side of the device is installed an additional camera for video calls, which is not on the iPhone. Both smartphones of course can connect to the Internet, in both models are built Wi-Fi modules. But the Nokia 5800, unlike the iPhone has a built-in browser that supports Flash. The iPhone 3G GPS works only connected to the internet. The Nokia GPS supports "walking" mode and also supports voice commands management and free maps.
As we know, the iPhones come with a fixed amount of memory: 8 or 16 GB. Owners of Nokia 5800 can choose by themselves how much memory will be in their device. Built-in Memory of Nokia is only 140 MB, but the product also includes a microSD memory card of 8 GB. In general, Nokia 5800 supports memory cards up to 16 GB.
The musical features of the devices do not differ a lot. In both models, there are stereo speakers and 3,5 mm headphone jack. But Nokia speakers are still louder and, as a gift, the manufacturer grants you the opportunity to download for free unlimited music from Nokia’s Music Store for an entire year beginning with the date of purchase. The batteries of these two models are very different considering their properties. In talk mode, Nokia 5800 can work 8h, while the iPhone 10 hours. But when viewing video, Nokia can perform 35 h, while iPhone only 24h. Nokia 5800 has a standard removable battery, but the iPhone battery can not be changed. Nokia 5800 has smaller dimensions, but slightly larger in width than the iPhone.
And, the most pleasant difference between these two devices is the price: Nokia 5800 is with 1/4 and sometimes 1/3 cheaper than the iPhone.
